Leadership

Hello everyone,

In the spirit of Comm class and our latest assignment I decided that I would talk about leadership. Leadership is a very important quality to have.In our small book, The Essentialuide To Goup Communication, it is said that leadership can be defined as the exercise of inter personal influences toward the attainment of goals. Then it goes on to say that Leadership is conected to two main key terms-direction and influence.The book gives two definitions:
-"Interpersonal influences, exercised in a situation, and directed, through the communication process, toward the attainment of a specific goal or goals."
-"An intercation between persons which onpresents infermation of a sort and in such a manner that the other becomes convinced that his [or her] outcomes...will be improved if he [or she] behaves in the manner suggested or desired."

I personally believe that the leader is the most important role in a group because they get everyone going.In my group for our project we have a very good leader, she was the first to contact all of our group members and she continues to keep in touch with all of us as well as keep us on track.Quite often I find myself very thankful for a strong leader like her because they are the people who kick all our butts into shape.Thank you leaders!

  1. I really enjoyed reading your blog about leadership. I agree with your statement that leaders are the ones that hold everything together and get everyone going. My group has a great leader who emailed us and set up the date for the meeting, making out first meeting really early with our project being finished today! I liked how your brought up the idea that a main point of leadership is “ interaction between persons” because thats something I have often struggled with. I used to be very shy, and I often wanted to be the leader and take initiative, but could not due to my problems speaking up and commanding others verbally. However, participating in numerous group projects in college has really helped this.

  2. hey! it's funny how i also chose to write about effective leadership because it reminded me of our latest project assignment. i especially enjoyed reading your last paragraph to this blog. i agree that having a good leader is extremely important and crucial especially in a group assignment. it allows everyone to work together and to keep everyone on track. in my group, we also have one very competent leader. she's who takes initiative and makes sure everything is on track. being a not so effective leader, i'm especially grateful for all the leaders around me who glue us all together. great post! it's a great reminder for us to be grateful for the leaders around us. =)
